BIO

Joel Gill, 57, of Pickens, thanks to your support, led all candidates of both parties to become the Democratic Nominee for Mississippi's 3rd Congressional District on March 11,2008..

Gill has served the people of the 3 rd District for the past 38 years buying and selling livestock through the free competitive auction system.

Joel also serves his community as choir director and Admistrative Council Chairman
of the Pickens First United Methodist Church.

He serves on many Boards of Directors including the Holmes County Chamber of Commerce, the Holmes County Cattlemen's Association and the Holmes County Arts Council.

Voters elected Joel Mayor of Pickens in a nonpartisan election, 2009. Joel previously served as alderman of Pickens.

He is also a graduate of the Mississppi Municipal League's Certified Municipal Official Program.

At the state level, Joel serves as President of the Mississippi Livestock Markets Association and has been a long time member of the "Beef it's what's for dinner" Mississippi Beef Council.

Joel and Ann Gill in their blended family have

two children, six grandchildren, and one great

grandchild.

Joel was born in St. Joseph, MO, educated at Bailey Jr. High, Callaway High School, and Millsaps College all of Jackson. He and his wife Ann in their blended family have two children daughter Penny and son Jason, six grandchildren, five boys and one girl and one great grandson a boy.
